Post premiere blues

For as long as I can remember, I’ve suffered from the post-premiere blues.

Imagine you’ve worked hard on something. You’ve spent months in collaboration, focus, and excitement. Then, once the cheering dies out and the curtain closes for the last time, an empty feeling sneaks in. It washes over the pride, the camaraderie, the joy, and sits quietly at the top.

You’re just done. You skip the after-party and walk home.

For me, it doesn’t last long, and it’s not really a negative state of mind. I think it’s a kind of built-in mechanism. It helps me let go and move on to the next thing without getting stuck.

Do you get hit by the post-premiere blues? How do you cope when the curtain closes on something big?
